Timeline View

Timeline View is the same chart as Gantt view, zoomed out to a week or month scale for a lighter, longer-range read of what's scheduled when.

Gantt chart zoomed to Month scale, showing a schedule spanning several months as a compact timeline.

Timeline is the Gantt chart at Week or Month zoom for a longer-range view.

What it does

Timeline View is the wide-angle read of your schedule — the same chart as Gantt View, set to a Week or Month zoom instead of Day. A schedule spanning a quarter or a year fits on one screen instead of scrolling through daily columns. It isn't a separate set of data; it's the Gantt chart at a different scale.

Who needs it

Anyone who needs the shape of a long schedule rather than its day-to-day detail — a roadmap review, a client update, or checking what's coming up next quarter. Less useful for editing individual dates, which Gantt's Day zoom handles better.

Why use it

Zoomed all the way in, a multi-month schedule is tens of thousands of pixels of scrolling. Zoomed out to Week or Month, the same bars compress into a shape you can take in at a glance, without switching away from the same dependency-aware chart.

How it works

Timeline is the long-range read of the same data as Gantt View — every task with a start or due date, and the same predecessor/successor arrows for dependent tasks — read at a wider scale rather than a separate view with its own tab.

To get it: open Gantt View from the view tabs, then set the zoom control at the top of the chart to Week or Month instead of the default Day. Each column now represents a week or a month rather than a single day, so a schedule that would otherwise be tens of thousands of pixels wide compresses to something that fits on screen.

Everything documented for Gantt View still applies at this zoom: bars still cover a task's own start-to-due window, dragging a bar still reschedules it, dependency arrows still connect blocked tasks, and Milestones are still reachable from the flag button above the chart.

Switch back to Day zoom at any point to return to a granular, day-by-day read of the same chart.
