List View

List View groups your tasks by status, assignee, priority, tag or due date, nests subtasks under their parent, and adds any field as a column.

List View showing tasks grouped by status with subtasks nested under their parent task.

List View groups tasks by status, assignee, priority, tag or due date.

What it does

List View shows every task as a single row, grouped under headers you choose, with subtasks nested under their parent. It's the default lens on any list, and the same tasks a Board, Table or Calendar would show — just laid out as a working checklist. Rows can be selected in bulk, dragged into a different status group, and reordered by hand within a group.

Who needs it

Anyone doing the actual work day to day, not just checking on it. It's the view most people leave open — a flat, scannable list you can group, filter and check off without switching to a spreadsheet or a board. Managers use it the same way team members do, just with more filters applied.

Why use it

A board is great for a glance at where things stand. A list is what you want when you're actually working through tasks one at a time, with subtasks visible right where they belong instead of hidden behind a click. Grouping and filtering happen without ever leaving the row you're on.

How it works

List View is one of six interchangeable lenses on a list's tasks — List, Board, Calendar, Gantt, Table and Workload all read the same underlying tasks, so switching tabs at the top of the page never loses or duplicates anything. Pick whichever shape fits what you're doing right now.

Group by: choose Status (the default), Assignee, Priority, Tags, Due date or Task Type from the Group by control above the list, plus Ascending or Descending order. Groups are collapsible, and each header shows a running count.

Also group by List: on a page that spans multiple lists (like a workspace's All Tasks view), turns each primary group into nested sub-groups by List — useful when you're grouped by Assignee or Priority and still want the source list visible.

Show subtasks: controls how child tasks appear — Expanded nests them under their parent, open by default; Collapsed nests them but starts closed; Separate pulls every subtask out into its own row alongside top-level tasks, useful when you want subtasks to show up in filters and Group by on their own terms instead of hiding inside a parent.

Drag a task's row onto a different status group's header to change its status. Drag a row up or down within a group to set its manual order there. Click any row to open the full task detail panel; use the checkbox on a row or a group header to select tasks for the bulk action bar (set status, priority or assignee, archive or delete several at once).

Columns beyond the task name are configurable: click + Add at the right of the header row to open the Fields panel and turn on built-in properties (Task ID, dates, dependencies, comments and more) or any custom field on the list. Drag a column header to reorder it, or drag its right edge to resize it — both are remembered per list.
