What it does
Every notification-worthy event in the workspace — a mention, a reply, an assignment, a status change on something you're watching — routes through two channels, Inbox and Email, each with its own independently configurable mode. The Home section's Inbox and Replies views are where they land inside the app.
Who needs it
Everyone, eventually — but especially anyone who's muted a tool because it notified them about everything. Also admins who want new teammates to see space activity even before they're explicitly added to a task.
Why use it
Two channels, five modes each, and one Custom picker with twelve individual switches — you get to choose your own volume of noise instead of a choice between everything and nothing.
How it works
Notification settings live at Settings > Notifications, and control two channels independently: Inbox (the notification bell inside the app) and Email (a digest — activity is batched and sent every few minutes rather than one email per event). Each channel has its own mode:
- Default: everything that would normally notify you.
- Focused: a reduced, higher-signal set only.
- Mentions only: just @mentions.
- Custom: pick exactly which of twelve notification types trigger this channel — assignment, mention, comment reply, plain comment, status/priority/due date change on a watched task, a checklist item assigned to you, other watched-task updates, a teammate creating or updating something, and reminders coming due.
- Disable notifications: turns the channel off entirely.
Smart Notifications: when on, skips sending the Email notification for something you were already active in the app for moments ago — you'd already have seen it in the Inbox, so the email would just be noise.
Auto follow tasks I am involved in: automatically starts watching a task the moment you're assigned to it or comment on it, so later changes notify you without you having to remember to hit Watch.
Desktop toast popups: shows a pop-up in the corner of the screen for new notifications, on top of the Inbox bell — the same switch as "Mute notifications" in the top menu.
Space activity: two switches independent of watching — notify me when a teammate creates a task, doc, list, or folder in a space I have access to, and notify me when a teammate updates one (status, priority, due date, name, or a doc/list/folder rename) — even on things you aren't personally watching.
Inside the app, the Home section's Inbox (with an unread-count badge) shows every notification you've received. Replies is a focused subset — just mentions and replies to your comments — split into Unread and Read tabs, so a conversation-only view doesn't get lost in status-change noise.
