Task-first, docs attached
A list is a list. Switch it to a board, table, calendar, timeline or workload. A doc sits in the same space, not in a parallel wiki you have to keep in sync.
Notion alternative
Notion is an excellent wiki. Teams stretch it into project management and then spend the quarter maintaining databases, rollups and a board that almost works. IterDone is the other way around: tasks, lists and views first, with docs nested next to the work they describe.
The switch
A Notion database can look like a board. It cannot, without a lot of assembly, give you a WIP cap, a timesheet, a guest scoped to one list, or an MCP server an agent can call. Those are first-class in IterDone because the product is a tracker. The docs still live here — they just are not the product.
What we built instead
A list is a list. Switch it to a board, table, calendar, timeline or workload. A doc sits in the same space, not in a parallel wiki you have to keep in sync.
Name your own stages, colour them, cap work-in-progress, save the set as a template. You do not build a status from a select property and a filter.
Scope a client to one list. They never see the rest of the wiki, because there is no wiki for them to wander through.
A timer on the task. REST and a built-in MCP server. Notion has an API; it is not a project-management agent host.
Side by side
| Capability | IterDone | Notion |
|---|---|---|
| Primary object | A task on a list | A page in a workspace |
| Board / Gantt / workload | Views of the same list, one click | Databases you assemble |
| Docs | Nested in the space, next to the list | The product is the docs |
| Guests | Free, one-list scope | Share a page; permissions get subtle |
| Time tracking | Built in on the task | Not a native tracker |
| AI / agents | Built-in MCP (89 tools) | API and AI writing features |
Based on each product's publicly documented feature set as of 2026. Products change; this page describes IterDone as it ships today.
Common questions
Yes. Docs live inside a space, support nested pages, comments, PDF export and a public link. They just sit next to the list instead of being the list.
No. If you want a company wiki, stay on Notion. If you stretched Notion into a project tracker, IterDone is the tracker.
Export a CSV of the database you used as a board and upload it. Names, statuses, assignees and due dates come across. Page-tree wikis do not.
Yes. It runs in the browser on desktop or phone. Nothing to install.
